Act Globally

Want to help sponsor a bicycle for a student in Zambia? World Bicycle Relief has finished their health worker bike distribution program, and has just begun a partnership with the Zambian Ministry of Education to get bicycles to Zambian students who, like Bharati, often have to travel prohibitively long distances to get to school. With My Own Two Wheels is partnering with World Bicycle Relief to help make this happen.

Through our Team With My Own Two Wheels page on the World Bicycle Relief site, you can sponsor a bicycle for a Zambian student. Just follow these steps:

1. Go here: Team With My Own Two Wheels

2. Click on the team page for your city. We have set up a page for each city that hosts a Two Wheels screening. Nothing like a little competition for a good cause! If there is not a page set up for your city yet, you can click on the "General Team Donation" page.

3. Enter the amount that you would like to donate, and follow the prompts from there.

A $134 donation will pay for a specifically designed bicycle for a Zambian student who has been selected by their school based on the distance of their commute, amongst other factors. World Bicycle Relief shares Ashta No Kai's mission of supporting girl students, hence 70% of the bicycles will be distributed to girls like Bharati.

Students will be able to keep their bicycles so long as they attend school. After graduation, the bicycles will be recycled by the school and passed on to incoming students.

Our goal is to raise $15,000, which will fund and Zambian school with bikes! Just think, when was the last time that you saw a school yard full of bikes rather than cars!
